About the scholarships

Founded by Christen Sveaas, Kistefos AS is an investment company with a rich history of pursuing philanthropic projects committed to public service and academic development.

Creating a better and more equal future starts with access to high-quality education, which is why Kistefos offers several fellowship funds and scholarships for Norwegian and African students – at elite universities – around the world.

Students admitted at Harvard Kennedy School (USA), IE University (Spain), the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and Rhodes University (South Africa) are welcome to apply for our sponsorship programs.

Studying at these institutions will make you part of prestigious alumni and provide you with international friendships, contacts and networks.

Frequently asked questions

Kistefos offers several fellowship funds and scholarships to elite universities around the world. These are available for Norwegian and African students.
Students at either Harvard Kennedy School (USA), IE University (Spain), the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), Stellenbosch University (South Africa) or Rhodes University (South Africa) are all eligible, and welcome, to apply for our sponsorship programs.
This can vary. The number of yearly scholarships is dependent on the number of qualified applicants.
The scholarships are aimed at the citizens of Norway, Ethiopia, Liberia and South Africa. Only individuals that have already been accepted into the universities, which are covered by the scholarships, may apply. For additional criteria, please consult the individual info pages for each scholarship.
Scholarships typically cover tuition and fees, but in some cases living expenses are covered as well. For further details, read the dedicated info pages for each of the scholarships.
Deadlines can vary between different universities. You can find more information about individual university deadlines on their webpages.
